Alderman candidates commit to fair campaign
April 4, 2007 by president.
The following letter was jointly drafted by all candidates and appeared in the Westlake Picayune:
To: The Residents of Rollingwood, Texas
From: All Candidates for Election/Re-election to the City of Rollingwood City Council - Alderman John Barton, Mayor Pro Tem Dale Dingley, Julie Reilly, Liz Krakow
We have all signed the “Code of Fair Campaign Practices” in which we agree to abide by principles of common decency and respect for one another. We want the Citizens of Rollingwood, Texas to be assured that we will run campaigns based upon a discussion of issues, realizing that everyone has ideas worthy of consideration by our residents.
Frankly, we feel this slate of candidates offers Rollingwood residents a guaranteed “win.” Last year’s election in Rollingwood saw instances of behavior that were very un-Rollingwood in nature. This year, we four candidates have mutually agreed that none of us will tolerate petty accusations, rumor or innuendo against any other candidate. In addition to being candidates, we are friends and intend to remain friends after the campaign is over.
We ask all residents of Rollingwood, Texas to join us in keeping the election clean, honest, and worthy of our great City.
