RNA Meeting Minutes (from 10/2)

As per our discussion, we will make the next corner social, in November, our next general meeting.

Here are the minutes:

1) Sara Mead read the treasurer’s report.

• We have a balance of $4283.20 not including any recent receipts for OctoberQue tickets.
• We have collected approximately $1600 in membership dues for 2007.

2) Rob Hirschfeld gave an update on the website.

• There are 300 subscribers to the newsletter.
• Noted that the website was good for spreading information, such as the fact that the city has recently started enforcing ordinances more strictly
• There is a $2000 fine for contractors working on a house outside of approved hours.
• Crews working on trees must include a registers arborist.
• We need more contributions to the website.
• A business owner who is also a resident may post messages about special offers to residents etc.
• Would like to post a listing of houses for sale, being built, etc.

3) Planning for the upcoming OctoberQue.

• We will wait until we have a better estimate before finalizing the order to the caterer.
• There is a big price difference between ordering for 200 and for 250. We should only use the higher number if we really think that we will have that many people.
• We will leave the hours as 11-2. This has already been published, and the longer hours are good anyway.
• Clean up does not entail a lot of work.
• Last year we had two people working the registration table.
• Extra tables are available from the city (inside the garage).
• The band needs to be paid the day of the event.

4) Open discussion.

• We need a method to get better attendance at meetings.
• What is our charter? Rob has the printed copy in his files. Perhaps we should put this on the website.
• Website has been a success.
• Need to people to serve as “reporters” at city council meetings, commission meetings.
• Record the ratio of OctoberQue sales from the postcards vrs from the website.
• Corner Socials have also been a success. We will make the next corner social, in November, our next general meeting.
