Call to curbside recycle your Christmas Tree 12/29 & 1/5

St. Michael’s Catholic Academy Boy’s Varsity Lacrosse Team will be picking up discarded Christmas Trees on Saturday’s 12/29 and 1/5. This fundraiser will help the team defray the cost of attending a tournament in February at Texas A&M.

Please help the team and yourself-just set your tree out by the curb on you scheduled Saturday and the boys will pick it up and take it to be recycled into mulch for the local parks. All lights and ornaments must be removed from the trees.

Please call Hayden Bahler at 327-0521 to sign up for your preferred Saturday and let him know how many trees are to be picked up.  The cost per tree is $15.

City recognizes RWC & RNA contributions

The City presented certificates of appreciation to the RWC and RNA at the last council meeting.  The RNA and RWC donated a combined $1500 to the Rollingwood Police to help them outfit their new offices.  The RWC has continued its mission of beautification with a generous donation to the Rollingwood Park and new chairs for City Hall.

WANTED: Good Neighbors & Community Leaders

The Rollingwood Neighborhood Association is seeking a few good neighbors to serve as officers.  Working with the RNA is low stress and big fun.  It’s an easy way to get to know your neighbors and serve your community.

When I took on RNA President, my goal was to improve communication within the community.  Now it’s time for the RNA to take on new objectives with some new faces.  Our current officers are active and committed to remaining involved!

Contact Rob Hirschfeld at president[at]myRollingwood[dot]com or 347-0153.

Water System Information Meetings

The City wants you to participate in a discussion about our water system.  Our water system represents one of the largest financial items for Rollingwood because millions of dollars of repairs have been identified.  You have a voice in how we address the repairs.

RWC & RNA contribute $1,500 to setup new Police Station

The Rollingwood Women’s Club and Neighborhood Association are donating a total of $1,500 to help setup the City’s new Police Station.  This gift helps to complete the recently remodeled substantial upgrade of their office space.

Take some time to visit their new HQ.  There are very few places in America where you can still be on a first name basis with all the members police force without losing your driver’s license.  Our police work hard to keep our neighborhood safe and they’re happy to stop and chat.

The gift will be presented at the 12/19 City Council meeting.

Elves needed to help with City Employee Holiday Baskets

The RWC is making their list and checking it twice, and know some people who are always very nice…our City Employees!  They make our lives better and safer and easier every single day!    The Women’s Club makes it VERY EASY for you to express your appreciation and gratitude to them in a fun way that lets them know how much our whole community thanks and appreciates them.

Here’s how it works:  The Women’s Club has containers–different every year–and the members bring 14 small identical (or similar) items to a central location (my house this year).  We put the items into the containers, and voila!  Cute basket/tote bag/flower pot/ mop bucket full of a variety of fun gifts for each City Employee!

How can you be a part of this?

  1. Make or get 14 small items, or go with a friend or two on something maybe a little bigger.  Cookies, baked goods, candles, soaps, picture frames, mugs, food items,  gift cards, BE CREATIVE!  I know they really like baked goods, so add a bit to your holiday baking!
  2. Bring them to LAURA HIRSCHFELD:  4900 Timberline Dr (Corner of Edgegrove and Timberline)
  3. DEADLINE:   MONDAY, DECEMBER 17!!!!!
