Not masked bandits - just escaped raccoons, but they’re wanted!
August 25, 2008 by president.
The Austin Nature Center had their raccoon enclosure broken into sometime in the night and the two raccoons are missing. They looking for them on their grounds and in the preserve, and fully expect to see them about dinner time.
However, they wanted to alert Rollingwood residents to be aware that if a raccoon appears too friendly, it might not be sick, just tame. DO NOT PICK THEM UP. If you hear any reports of a friendly set of raccoons, please call them at 327-8181 and give the location information, and contact information to our front desk folks. Wildlife staff can be reached at 327-8181 ext 18.
The raccoons are Yoli and Pepper, and the male is extra large. They will probably be traveling together, and looking for water bowls. They do bite, so resist your normal urges to cuddle with wild raccoons. If your urge to cuddle raccoons persists after reading this post, please consult with the animal shelter and adopt a cat.

Randall’s Cardboard Recycling
August 20, 2008 by president.
I stopped by the Randall’s cardboard recycling area in the back of the store and dropped of some cardboard and took this picture with my phone. It’s easy to do and a great service.

It’s amazing how much cardboard you can collect if you start keeping the boxes that food comes in!

police services
August 19, 2008 by Cindy Hause.
Hi! After hearing about the services offered by the RW police at the night out I was thinking that it would make it a lot more useful and accessible if there was a link on the RW web site for these things. Any chance of that happening?
Thanks,
Cindy Hause

National Night Out draws big friendly crowd
August 18, 2008 by president.
The sky threatened but failed to interrupt a our National Night Out festivities. Special thanks to the Western Hills Athletic Club (the pool) for hosting, Chipotle Mexican Grill and Pizza Nizza for the great food, and the Rollingwood Police and Westlake Fire Department.
We had a very impressive turn out (even more so considering we have to reschedule by email) and next year we’ll get more food. If you’re interested in chairing NNO 2009, please contact president[at]myrollingwood[dot]com.

Brackenridge Tract- Will it impact Rollingwood traffic??
August 12, 2008 by cathorne.
Just thought it might be helpful to be informed about the Brackenridge Tract development plans. Concerns have been raised about how it will impact traffic along Red Bud, Westlake Dr and Stratford. The following info was in the Statesman today.
Cooper, Robertson & Partners LLP will share “preliminary information and analyses” concerning the West Austin tract, according to a news release from the system. The session begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Lower Colorado River Authority’s Hancock Building, 3700 Lake Austin Blvd. The session is open to the public.
Meanwhile, the UT System has invited the public to participate in a second online survey concerning the tract. A link can be found on the Web site for the master planning process.
